Orthotics are a custom-made brace or support for the arch of the foot or the ankle. There are a number of methods to capture the shape of the foot or ankle, including digital scanning, using casting material or taking a foam impression. Once either the scan, impression or cast has been made it is sent to a lab which fabricates the orthotic in the shape of the patient’s foot. Orthotics are sometimes covered by a patient’s insurance and we can check this coverage for you prior to initiation of the process. Ankle and foot orthotics can treat many different conditions.
